Today is a big day for me as a founder, but more so, a pivotal moment for security engineers and DevOps teams, as ZEST is emerging from stealth mode, ready to revolutionize cloud risk remediation. ZEST’s AI-Powered Risk Resolution platform automatically aligns identified risks to mitigation and remediation paths. Built to eliminate cloud vulnerabilities and misconfigurations at scale, with ZEST, security teams can finally level the playing field with attackers.
Over the past eight months, we’ve been working closely with enterprise design partners and customers to develop and validate the ZEST offering. Today, I couldn’t be more excited to reveal our new technology to the world.
Where it all started
With years of experience in cloud, product and application security, Uri and I experienced the risk remediation challenge first hand while working in large companies like Akamai and Varonis. While significant investments were made in our security stack to identify cloud misconfigurations, vulnerabilities and risks almost in real-time, we found it impossible to operate when it came to remediating or even mitigating those risks.
Remediating cloud vulnerabilities and misconfigurations is an extremely manual activity, and in many cases, it’s impossible. Because DevOps is the only team that can apply the fix, it would take weeks of back and forth between engineering, DevOps and security to validate the risk, understand the root cause and determine the best path to resolution. The reality is bleak. On average it takes organizations 30-60 days to remediate a single cloud risk, resulting in millions of dollars of operational spend annually and an increased attack surface.
The fact that no solution was available to adequately address the problem is the reason why we are here and why we founded ZEST.
Shifting the focus
ZEST’s mission is to shift the industry’s focus from identifying cloud risks to remediating them. Over the past several years, the rapid migration to cloud has driven organizations to widely-adopt solutions that provide visibility into cloud risks, misconfigurations and vulnerabilities. However, visibility is not security. With organizations now aware of their cloud risks, we face a ‘failure to remediate’ problem, which ZEST is here to solve.
Our time is now
Just three years ago, building a product like ZEST wouldn’t have been possible. With the recent advancements in GenAI and the rapid adoption of DevOps systems, we now have a unique opportunity to revolutionize how we approach security and risk.
This is just the beginning of a new reality. I couldn’t be more excited to take on this big challenge within a new market, helping organizations move past cloud visibility towards risk remediation using GenAI.
Resolution is not only remediation
In many cases, it’s impossible to fix the problem and completely eliminate the risk. This could be due to business decisions, the fact that the DevOps owner is on vacation, or a patch is just not available yet. I’ve personally been there so many times — this is why we are leading with ZEST Resolution Paths, which offer both remediation and mitigation. This ensures risk can be addressed immediately, even in cases where full remediation isn’t possible.
Be part of our journey
We’re running fast and having fun while building exciting new technology that offers an innovative approach. Stay tuned for more updates that will redefine cloud risk remediation, and we look forward to hearing your feedback. For more information on the launch, check out the full press release.
